Hi,
This week on the podcast I’m joined by Jacky Power, a therapeutic poet, trauma therapist and a transformational speaker, who helps us understand the trickiness of just being human.
Jacky is the creator of the Hulp to Hope framework and the host of a new podcast, Words in the Wilderness. In 2022, Jacky performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her one-woman show, Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, which might be a sentiment many of us have right now. This became a poetry collection of the same name which is full of the warmth, vulnerability and wisdom that Jacky brings to this conversation. Jacky’s next book, From Hulp to Hope, is due out this summer and we get a preview into some of its themes.
I’m really excited to share this week’s episode because we talk about so many things that are really on my mind right now and I wonder whether they are on yours too.
We talk about feelings and why they can be so threatening. We get into vulnerability and why that is so hard place to be. We talk about Brené Brown (is there ever a bad conversation that includes her?). We talk loneliness and we talk hope. We talk about being an author, about poetry and about how words capture exactly why it’s so hard just to be a person right now.
We get into so much that I think is really helpful as we think about where we are and what we need in a moment that can leave us feeling confused, overwhelmed and disconnected. So wherever you’re listening, reading or now watching, I hope this episode and Jackie’s thought helps you this week.
x Claire
