Now January is out of the way, let's figure out where you really are
Here's your month of Journal Prompts to get you into your life (maybe even together)
February 1st!!!
We’re through January. That feels rather triumphant in itself.
For this month’s Journal Prompts, we’ll be navigating the dark days of winter in ways that feel a little kinder to ourselves. I know that I find February confusing: I’m all between hibernating and cooking soup and getting out as much as possible for wintry walks and warm drinks.
This is the month of red hearts, so of course, there are prompts here around what love means to you whether that’s in the context of romance or friendship. Also, desire which is maybe something you haven’t thought about for a while. Perhaps it’s been dormant and needs reviving?
And there are some nudges, very light ones, to check in on how you’re really feeling right now, taking the measure of your mental well-being and emotional health.
So here it is. Your month of Journal Prompts for Everyday Life.
Just a note on how to use these:
Go lightly. Yes, you can pin this to your wall and take a question each day. But you can also just fold in a question when you remember. Or set aside time to do a week at once. Life’s a lot right now and there’s no pressure to pile on more.
Also, I’ve used these questions not just for self-reflection but also for writing prompts. When I’m stuck I’ve sat down and just written to the question that resonates the most. If you create a post from one of these, do tag me. I’d love to read what you discover. I might even create a post that shares some of your responses too.
I rarely do them every day because there’s a tightening that happens when I commit to that, so instead I allow myself to play with them, often taking them out of order.
I’ve also used these prompts with my family as conversation questions - always a surprise what emerges.
These are yours, so get creative, and let me know the ways you find to use them.
And do share this post if you find these prompts helpful and if you know someone who might need them right now too.
Have fun with these, and let me know if you find any questions you particularly love or hate! That tells you something too.
Co-Journaling
This month’s Co-Journaling meet-up for members of The Wellery will be Friday 9th February at noon London time:
In our time together we’ll be using these Journal Prompts to:
Build awareness and become more confident about your journal practice.
Abandon all self-judgement: particularly if you’re using these to reflect. Answering these questions is not about being ‘a great writer’, or finding the appropriate words. Rather it’s trying to put as little between you and the page as possible.
You can also choose to use these as writing prompts for potential posts. You might discover something here that you’re desperate to write about or you’ve never thought of.
But keep it low pressure: something might come from one of these prompts but it doesn’t have to. Just write your way through this session together – you can edit later.
Sharing: This hour can just be for you, but there will also be a moment to discuss anything that comes up with the group.
If you’re not a member of The Wellery you can join by upgrading. You’ll also get access to pop-up office hours where you can bring anything that came up for you from these questions. A coffee a month basically gets you a year of life maintenance.
